done all the usual checks etc... dont get any overheating problems or loose any water but it just refuses to blow hot air lol

Sounds like you got an airlock mate., jack the front of the car up as far as it will go, run the engine then slowly release the plug from the top of the radiator., refilling until water comes out of the plug.

Sounds as though there's been a problem with the heater matrix in the past and its had a heater bypass. Its quite common on these cars, probably best to ask the previous owner if you can or see if you can see the pipes coming out of the bulkhead behind the engine, if there is nothing connected to them then the heater has been bypassed.

Also popping a hosepipe in the cap and forcing it in for 5 mins with the engine running seems to help eliminate airlocks. ALso remember the biggie (and this is easy to foget) leave the heater on full blast at 40 degrees to make sure it's opened up

you know i never even thought to check that, will squie that tonight when i get in. i take it its just the usual to pipes from the bulk head setup

Yes, look down behind the rear of the plenum, you might just be able to see the pipes but its a tight squeeze behind there.
