I see all the major airlines are cashing in on the poor sods either stuck abroad or losing their holidays !!!

We normally go with another couple but sadly they can,t make it this year so this year the missus and i thought we,d hang and get a last minute deal and save a few quid , i,ve been watching some all inclusive holidays in Turkey , a few weeks ago the prices dropped a little , great i thought their on their way down then last week they went back up and over the last few days they,ve shot up :headvswal

Went to the travel agent yesterday , they said the flights are dissapearing fast and this year they,ve not seen any last minute deals !!! just my bloody luck . They checked on one holiday i,d been watching and overnight it had gone up £300 , making a weeks holiday cost a shade under £1500:rant:

Did manage to find one though so at least we can have a week in the sun :duffer::duffer::dance::dance: Rip off britain at ts best . Rant over .

TBH its not rip off britain at all, what you have done is wait untill the last minute in the hope of the package company being so desperate to fill seats that they reduce the holiday to below cost and you get a bargain , thats you taking advantage of the others misfortune, whats happened this year is that they know people want holidays and they have stuck to their guns and not done many last minute deals, in fact when people have realised this they have gone and booked a bit earlier and the supply demand situation has taken over, i always book early and haggle and ring round , find a price i am happy to pay and pay up, this year its worked as the price of holidays has gone up not down

I have noticed flight prices on long haul flights go up by about 1/4 - 1/3 over last year.

 

I try and avoid doing 'package' holidays anyway and always make my own last minute plans. But that's just me.

i've just booked a week in Benidorm for £240 self catering all in, goin to a travel agents the cheapest i could find in a decent location was £360, so there are savings to be had if you search around.

 

Also the more "hits" a holiday gets in the shops they will put the price up purely because it has interest, so don't keep hitting that refresh button!
