We just get shafted all the time FFS!!!

Iain has fixed his AFM but just out of interest I rang my local Nelson for a price after getting the part number from the Courtesy Fiche.

Just incase anyone wants the details...

Mass Air Flow Meter

P/N: 22680-30P00

So Big Mac being the King of Discount with his local dealer was quoted 380 all in.

Take into account that Mike Feeney at MJP quoted off the top of his head on Sunday at Trax 500 squids.

My local Nelson give me 418 inc. vat. Not quite 500 though eh Mike???

Anyway, I mailed Courtesy this afternoon and would you Adam and Eve it???

FFS...read this...

Greetings,

I do show to have in stock. You may refer to quote #Q57740 when ordering by phone, fax or email. The tt.net price $366.14 & air freight $48.98 for a ticket total of $415.12.

Thank you, have a safe day.....

Rodger

So that works out at 267.55 GBP shipped to the U.K.

Or...

235.98 squids if you can get someone to get you one whilst over the Pond!

timmy my old m8 i know the feeling well bud, comming up 2 the cambelt change & am going 2 get the parts from courtesy instead of being taken for a ride in this country again!!!

As an ex-automotive wally, the alleged "rip-off" is more likely to be from regional parts wholesaler (eg Nissan Europe or Nissan Motor UK) than dealers / wholesalers in UK.

EG the price you got from Courtesy doesn't include import duty (10% I think) or VAT (17.5%). Or £358 - compared to the estimate that Mac got of £380. So within reach. ish.

I don't think it's fair to slate someone for giving a price off the top of his head on a Sunday.

Also there are probably more than 10 times as many Zs in the US as there are here in the UK- so Courtesy can afford to be cheaper - they'll sell 10 times as much.

Yes, they give a better deal than standard Nissan dealers and we need to keep the pressure on but a little bit of reality sometimes helps.

For example, it is simply not realistic to expect prices for parts for a low volume car (a couple of thousand or so) - which was only officially imported for 4 years nearly a decade ago - to compare exactly with a market which has loads more (a factor of 10 or more) cars to act as a market.

Yes, we should continue to be aware of rip-offs. But poking people in the eye makes them less likely to want our business.

Sorry Timmy, I'm not getting at you - and given the last importer I worked for thought it was fun to quote an exhaust price for spares which was 25% of the new price of the entire bike, rip-offs are a sore point.

But please remember we are trying to keep going a model of car which is a) supercar tech and price when new, b) rare in the UK, c) needs friends in trade, and d) is NOT needed by Nissan.

Stands to reason we are going to have to pay more than (say) Scooby parts or Cossie parts. But, thankfully, nowhere near Ferrari parts.

I bet I pay more for my beer here than you do in de Wales (and I can't get Felinfoel round here anyway!)

Cheers - Gio

Don't remember slating Mike for quoting 500 squids!

He was pretty sure about that price though.

Anyone know how many UK Zeds there are ? There can't be that many !

I know that over half the Z's in the UK are Imports

Yeah I meant UK non-imported Zeds. Lot less than half are UK spec. aren't they ?

I dont know, but you go onto Autotrader and search for 300ZX nationaly. There are loads. Then search for UK ones. Only a few.

Well this may be down to the word UK not appearing in the description.

But didnt Gio's chassis number show that nearly half or more, are imports?

I know most of the ones I see on the roads are Jap imports.

Stuart.

Tim it does not matter if it is Nissan parts, petrol or fags WE GET SHAFTED IN THE UK more than anywhere in the world!
