Had a look on autotrader and there is a mass of these for 3k up, I presume it is the cost of diesel and the new road tax?

Cost of diesel was exactly the same as vpower earlier when I filled up... always thought diesel was more expensive...

 

123.9 for vpower

123.9 for diesel

111.9 for unleaded

Thing is you probably go about twice as far on your gallon of diesel (compared with a Z anyway).

There,s also something to do with the injectors , been told they need replacing at some point and are very expensive , was told the common rail type diesel mondeo was a better buy :confused:

To be truthful there are quite a few other makes of the same ilk, the mondeos seem to be in the majority!

Don't buy one. I had a 55-plate Mondeo TDCi for a while. Hated it. I know they are no sports car, but they have to be one of the most un-rewarding and boring cars I've ever driven. They don't do anything particularly bad, but I think they are hugely over-rated.

 

Horrible clutch on the Ford diesels too.

The market is saturated with them. Always been the case at 'end of model life' reps cars. The last model Mondeo was one of the longest production models with the least update too. You can pick up similar aged Vectras and 407s for similar prices. You'll be just as suprised wheb you see how cheap Jaguar X-Types are now.

Lots of the cost of the parts on some of these cars make it difficult to justify fixing them, if you take a 3 year old mondeo as an example, worth 3 grand if your lucky, new clutch and dual mass flywheel is going to set you back not far off a 800 quid, and a diesel pump on alot of these is about a grand, so when the warranty runs out the value plummets.

Well I sold my '91 Y reg Mondeo diesel estate a few months ago for £3k.....I must have been lucky!

I just bought a 1999 Pug 406 2.0 Diesel GLX £750 for my son Its well equipt and very comfortable I havent had time to check its fuel consumption yet but I am told it does about 35 MPG. That will be better than he's Lexus is200 that does less to the gallon than my 300ZX under normal driving.
