CBR600 FV Crash Damage Help inc. timing casing broken repairable?

I know alot of you are bikers sooooooo,

I had a bad off on this bike 5 years ago now. It went down the road and up a kirb. Apparently the engine was running and it got switched off but he timing case was broken. I want to see if the engine is dead or if i can get it running. Its been sat in my garage and hasn't moved for 5 years.

What is the sensor that is broken off? Does it send a spark to the plugs? In that case the engine may be ok? i.e the timing never went out and popped a valve into a piston. The other worry is that the engine was running without oil. However i can push the bike in gear so the engine isn't seezed.

So my questions are: Can you see anything that would have knackered the engine from the photo's and the amount of time it's been sitting? Should i just try and get an engine casing, fill it up with oil and try to start it?

The other broken bits are more salvage yard jobs that i can source but i don't know alot obout this engine . I'm now disabled so i'll need to adapt this bike to get it on the road anyway. Its going to be a good project to get into if the engines ok!

Looks like some nasty damage, hope you didn't damage your self too much!

The cosmetics are easy done, not sure on the engine though :(

There are always lots of fairing parts for f3's on ebay for a few quid, mirrors, engine casings are all cheap, so fingers crossed nothing has got in there.

Cheers,

That looks like a sensor for the ignition timing, nothing to do with valves etc. anyway, as long as the crank has not been bent then the engine should be in good shape. So repair/replace that sensor and the timing case and it should be ok.

PS, I've got spare stock indicators, a tinted screen and exhaust if you needed them mate, all free.

Hay i used to have one of those years ago, I wrote mine of too, but i just left it on the side of the road and someone stole it in the end good ridence i thought :D Was a right mess.

Steve-o nice bike :D, thanks also for the offer of parts, very kind  I do have the stock indicators off the rear and a stock exhaust (scorpion is rusting in a bush somewhere, lol) but may get back about the screen. I'd like to keep the undertray though, lol

Plan is to order a haynes manual, take it apart a bit, flush it through, put a new engine case on, some thick oil in it and try and run it.

hehe, no worries mate, let me know on the screen, I'll just post it off this week if you want it.

You should get over to bikers oracle on the cbr 6'ers board, there's a load of good ppl on there that will help you out with it and possibly donate some bits.

With any luck she will fire up :)
