Hi.

My ZX keeps stalling when Im slowing down from a fast speed (eg coming off a motorway down the slip road).

Any ideas why this could be as its quite dangerous as I loose power steering and breaks.

I had a similar thing, was the induction kit and where the weather guard underneath was removed, it was causing some weird swirl there with the air and making it stall. I put a new weather tray in on the bottom of the induction and no stalling.

not sure, how do i check?

BOV's as in PTsssssch or WHeeeee lol :)

In other words, replacing the stock recircs :)

as Steve-o says (or demonstrated :p ), theyre another name for dump valves. does your car make a ptishh noise when you come off the throttle?

Ah, dump valves - lol. Yes, it has them :)

So with the air filter, it could be that it's not getting enough air yeah? Where is this situated as I cant see it under the bonnet.

you need to determine whether theyre in the engine bay (on two of the large four pipes) or ahead of the radiator (situated where the stock recirculating valves normally go). apexi BOVs commonly go at the recircs and if not adjusted correctly (usually meaning that the screw end is not allen-keyed up tightly enough) then i believe they let air into the engine when they shouldnt be

Aye still around somewhere James :)

Not too bad Rich, give me a shout on MSN some time.

The thing with the air filter for me was that the weather guard wasn't underneath it, I'm not sure why this mattered, but it did for some reason and it kept stalling with an induction sat there. When I re-fitted the tray on the bottom of the induction it stopped stalling.

It could well be the bov's I had a couple of turbo XS on mine that needed packing out with some more washers to get the right tension.

Cheers,

Dump valves are the usual cause of the stalling when stopping or braking hard with the clutch depressed.

I had the same problem and found that a pin had slipped out of mine.

Off Topic, James old boy, been a while since I've seen you on here, how's business over in camper land ?
