When I drive my zed above about 60mph and accelerate I get a faint audible beeping or pinging sound coming from somewhere in the car, (all gauges are fine and no warning lights on) its driving me mad I cant work out where its coming from or whats causing it, sounds like somekind of warning??? Any ideas? PS its the 1990 twin turbo auto if that makes any difference.

mines did that cause it was a jap import a speed sensor warning thingy. I had chap fit a device to convert it from kph to mph and its gone.:hyper:

mines going in today to get some bits done an thats one of the things im gettin done so hopefully should cure it

Yep just to confirm, mine also did this :( Then i fitted a delimiter and it sorts everything, no bonging noise, no 112mph speed restrictor, and the odo works in miles now. :nana2:

Just to clarify things,

Fitting a delimeter behind the speedo cluster technically doesn't remove the "bonging" noise. What it does is it moves the threshold from 60mph to 112mph at which point you can't hear it due to road and wind noise.

In any case, if you're not delimiting the car you can get rid of the bonging noise by removing a part underneath the speedo cluster cowling (ie the curved bit of plastic that sits on top of the cluster. There is a writeup about it somewhere on here but I haven't been able to find it. However, do this at your own peril as this box also functions as the alarm box for when you leave the lights on when you stop the engine, etc.

You can unplug the beeper to disable all sounds which is behind the speedo or you can unplug the Small connetor coming of the Beeper loom with green and yellow striped wire and that will disable only the speed chime but keep the headlight beeper active..

as said above^ although i thought it was 70mph it started beeping.

so yes it is supposed to do that and no your not just hearing things
