just been out in the tt auto, playing with a 350z having a bit of a race, gets to a roundabout, im in the left lane he's in the right goes around the roundabout slips into power mode to stop in changing gear up.

ย

goes to comeoff the roundabout onto a duel carridgway side by side, i floor the throttle the car downgears, the bloke in the 350z does the same and turns in really close to me, i let off the throttle just a sec and the car ****ing upshifts!

hes now flooring it in 1st, im in second, i keep my foot down and the car refuses to downgear! im now racing him side by side in the wrong gear and he cannot pull away!

finally get to third gear and boom! away i go!

I love the 300zx, I hate the auto! its like running with your laces tied together sometimes! :)

LOL, i know what you mean, i will be converting when i can afford it, until then i'll have to carry on :( TBH i quite like the auto box and its a very good one compared to alot of other cars, but when i wanna blow off some steam i'd like it to be manual

Manuals are far better , I have a sports car that is an auto , its lovely to drive but just does not have the control that the manual does, I like to be able to drive the car not just point it in the direct and press the Go pedal :D

Well i have driven both, and i do prefer the auto, tho it can have quirky moments,(and if memory serves a ALC will hold the rpm better)i find that the best way when having fun is to have the O/D off, forget the power hold it comes on anyways when you WOT,and if you can do it when all around you is chaos, keep ya foot on accel and use the brake pedal to slow when needed, when you take ya foot off does the mother fly:D

i let off because i was going to slow down because he was coming into my lane but thx for the input

you need the right tool for the job tbh, Auto's are not for racing, or any properly enthusiastic driving really.

I agree! Autos aren't for racing, even though I own a TT auto, which is very quick, a manual is direct and fully controllable, not to mention the lower ratios and extra gear. The auto, although very good, can easily catch you off guard and I find the ratios too tall for racing easily. I for one will be converting next year:D

I'm sure there will be moments that I miss the auto over the manual, but not many:o
