How easy is it to remove the manual gearbox from a TT car ?

 

Is there anything in particualr I should look out for ?

 

I have done a few gearboxes in the past so I think I know whats invloved, just never from a Z32

Same as any other RWD car really... pretty heavy though, so best to have some help!!

Its fairly straight forward. You maystruggle with the 2 or 3 of the top bellhousing bolts , one solution to that is to lower the subframe a little and undo the rear gearbox bracket bolts first which gives you enough room to get a row of extensions to reach from the back of the gearbox to the front to undo them.

it is pretty easy to be fair compared to many other clutches

Well after alot of swearing and hammer throwing the gearbox is now out, the clutch is wrecked and the spigot is ruined too.

 

Anyone any ideas of where is best to get a new spigot bearing from ?

spent about 2.5 hrs taking it out, the exhaust caused more problems than anything else.

Nissan dealer or MJP (in traders section)

you can get a 1/2" square drive 900mm extension, think mine was Laser, - makes the top bell housing bolts really easy! Wish I'd bought mine before taking the box out :-\
