knock sensor

hi all just had my 1991 non turbo engine checked out on a diagnostic tuner because i had a flat spot ,,, cost me 47 quid [call me tight but i think 47 bucks for 10 min is ridiculous] it said the knock sensor is faulty thats why its running lumpy ,,so where can i get a replacement sensor and where on the engine block is its location ,,, cheers jim:confused:

hi just to let you all know ordered a knock sensor from america for 29 lovely pounds delivered ,,as over here i was advised by zworld they are 160 pound,, flippin ripoff , so job done i hope, let u know if it cures the prob ,,,jim

That will be a non-oem knock sensor then, as even from America they are $160 + shipping + Duty.

Unfortunately its a big job to fit. The knock sensor is located between/undeneath the two heads at the back of the engine.

You will need to remove the Upper plenum, and lower plenum to get to it.

Most people bypass the knock sensor instead with a 1 megohm resistor.

yes as i have just found out and also been advised by jeff at zedworld that the prob i have may not be knock sensor now so its up to zedworld next week for a conzult keep yall posted

A flat spot wouldnt be caused by a faulty knock sensor.

you can however relocate the knock sensor to the top of the plenum, not as good a location as stock but its better than nothing and saves you ££££
