I've booked a hotel in Aberystwyth for sat and sun night this weekend and intend to have a drive about, so im coming from the M4 straight across the bridge and from there i am going to head up through the nature reserve and eventually join the coast up to aberystwyth.

On sunday were free to drive where ever

then monday we can take an alternative route back to London.

Any suggestions of good fun routes whith great scenery ?

I regularly go into Wales on my VFR. Hang a right at Newport and go up past Cwmbran to Pontypool and on to Blaenavon. On to Abergavenny, then Crickhowell, then Cwmdu on to Talgarth. Head for Builth Wells and then on to Rhayader, then go through the Elan Valley and on to Devil's Bridge, then take your pick to get to Aberystwyth.

Halfway through the Elan Valley there's a road to the visitor centre which you simply must do (it puts you back near Rhayader) - last time I was there I saw a bunch of Scoobys parked up like it was a Z meet, so the locals must use that road a fair bit.

Loads of great roads in Wales mate.... Also worth heading across brecon beacons if you get the chance, some gorgeous road around there!

you're in luck mate i was only there 2 weeks ago....

Do the Nant y Moch reservoir road take the turning from Talybont (A487) next to the pub...follow the signs its a monster road :D up and over the mountains...only @ 20 miles but very nice all the same you'll come out at Ponterwyd (look out for the blue zed it was there last week and was there last year when i passed) then head to devils bridge and go along the Cwmystwyth road it one of the 10 best drives in the world

Cwmystwyth is located around 20 miles from Aberystwyth. Take a trip from Aberystwyth through Devils Bridge and to Cwmystwyth to see what the area can offer.

The AA once described the B4574 through Cwmystwyth as one of "the ten most scenic drives in the World."

Yes indeed mate.... lovin the Welsh weather

You should pop in if your coming past, we got gas and electric and everything here nowadays so I can even make you a coffee lol. we're only 2 mins off the M4, near Pyle if you want to google it.

Sat is our meet at Llandow for some drift thing...see the 'Wales' section if you fancy it?

I'd come over to junction 32, 3rd exit A470 all the way to Merthyr, Start of the beacons/heads of the valleys and back to A road...A470 to Brecon over the Beacons which is great...had our last meet on the top! You could stay on the A470 at Brecon, but a really nice road with great views and shorter distance (Have som pics i'll post up in a bit!) is the B4250 to Builth Wells (use this regularly for the Royal welsh showground from where i live) You could then stay on the A470 to Llangurig but if you want extra twisty then hop on the A483 on pop up to Newtown.... and then back over to Aberystwyth...Its all lovely up there either way....

....Only problem is you've picked the worst weekend ever for driving!! Every man and his, bike, caravan, motorbike will be on teh roads this weekend, so i'd phone in sick tues, cancel you hotel until Tues & Wed and drive the roads then!!!!

Welcome to pop into mine and there are beds available Friday night! I'm 8 miles from 32 or 4 miles from 34...I'm off canoeing the Wye on Sunday though as it's less congested and leaving sat afternoon!! PM me if you need to!

Thanks guys, and thank you Tubx for the very kind offer. I was a bit worried about the traffic but i'm gonna set off in good time saturday morning!

All of the roads up toward aber are good...just up by devils bridge are some really good ones....plus the corners have the grippy yellow tarmac as they're know hot spots for bikers becoming donars.
