You've seen it on just about every car movie, that perfect launch where the rear wheels light up for a second, the rear end of the car slews to the left or right and then f**ks off in a real hurry... well I was demoing the Racelogic system to a customer today and I got it to happen. I really wanted to impress the dude but I knew that my clutch wouldn't withstand the full hard cut 5.5k rpm 5psi boost launch, and I'd already showed him the 4k soft cut launch which the car kinda bogged on. Well to seal it I warned him that "the clutch would probably let go but I'll show you what a real launch is like"
Lining it up on a smooth patch of road I flicked the dial up to the hard cut launch, pressed the go hard button, brought the revs up to the limiter, but not enough throttle to bring on the boost. Then let go of the clutch.
The tyres lit up, the rear stepped out to the left in this graceful arc, then the TCS started cutting back power to bring the wheelspin back down, the car straightened and fucked off!!!! Pinned us both to the back of our respective seats... From woah to go it was only a matter of a second before we were straight and out of there.. but still it was brilliant! and as the wheelspin heated up the tyres the TCS had to do virtually nothing up top in 1st, so it felt like an honest 4 - 4.5 sec 0-60mph sprint.
In 20months of life with my Z I have NEVER done a launch like that! The customer had a beaming wide smile with "it's all good" written all over his face.
So those people with the Racelogic system, a full launch can be done without melting the clutch but you shouldn't generate boost on the line, and dump the clutch, don't ride it out, just sidestep it...
