Check out the video of the loverly german gal having her porsche covered in olive drab here

Looks pretty crazy. What I'm thinking though is if we can find a source for the 3M vinyl that's used here in blighty then use it to cover the roof bars in gloss black?

Sure a few people on here might be interested. This stuff lasts for about 4 years or so and does not damage the paint!

Or you leave it over night and some f**ker peels it all off

I have seen it on some police vehicles in West Midlands. They used it on non white cars, probably so there was better resale on ex police cars. To be honest unless you opened the bonnet you couldn't tell.

i have to ask. how much would that cost? as if its over a grand you might as well get a respray

Don't think i'd ever do the whole car in it. How do you clean, polish it? Surely it would fade and go dull much quicker than paint?

At that price, would rather get a respray! Would've thought the plastic option to be cheaper! Bugger paying the same money for something that isn't permanent!

Anything under a grand and it starts to make more sense (wouldn't pay more for it myself either).

For a "proper" spray job where the finish is immaculate you'd be looking at £2000/2500. The finish you get with the vinyl "appears" (I'd like to see a car done up close and personal before comitting further!) to be absolutely perfect (as long as there are no bumps/dents/scratches in the bodywork prior to the wrapping from what I've read in the thread posted). If a company did do it I'd also be interested in what their after-sales/care consists of, if anything.
