Is this actually accurate?

I put in the following for a stock TT.

revs max 7000

tyre width 225

profile 60

rim 16

final transmision gear 0.752

diff ratio 3.69

And when calculated i got 200mph.

So i then tweaked for the spec of my Zed and wet my pants, sexy wee....

Top Speed = 224mph

I think the Auto is geared to just over 200mph, and the manual to just under.

But thats all based on you having enough power to get it there.

Stock profile is 50 btw

I think the Auto is geared to just over 200mph, and the manual to just under, if it would rev to around 8000rpm in 5th

So that calculator either dont work or the figures i input were wrong as i set the rpm at 7000 and got 200mph

calculator is fine, you put the wrong tire profile in which would increase the gearing / top speed

I put in

7000

255

40

17

0.752

3.69

= 188 mph

which is probably about right if I had enough room to get to 7k in 5th gear

haha, 60 would be a bit of a balloon tyre, what is the correct stock profile on a JDM rim?

But.... that's good i made that bulls up as that means the calculator works so to match my new spec would mean i have a 224mph beast wooo........

what the trans and final gear ratios of a auto and manual then?

Stock profile = 50

TT Manual

final drive - 0.752

Rear diff - 3.69

TT Auto

final drive - 0.694

Rear diff -3.69

NA Manual

final drive - 0.752

Rear diff - 4.08

NA Auto

final drive - 0.694

Rear diff - 4.08

arrr har... there is be. 50 thanks.

187 stock then, that's more like it.

If you could get to 7500rpm in 5th, then you would hit 200mph in a TT Manual

You would need a lot of power to overcome the aero resistance however. There's probably some sort to calculator out there than can work it out based on the cofficient dray (0.31 for a 300zx I think?)

woooo..... i'm getting more n more excited to getting my car back now.

Always wanted to crack the 200mph mark and i should be able to bust it easy according to the calculator.

Any where we can legally test top speeds?

just better hope my gearbox holds up haha. doubtful.

It is very doubtful you would actually reach 200mph mate. you won't have enough power to overcome the wind resistance.

why does it need to know tyre width? whats that got to do with top speed other than adding resistance, which is not taken into account by this calculator?

Looking at this old thread: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=105809

You only need 463bhp to achieve 200mph in a Z32. Obviously this needs to be at 7500rpm in a manual.

OR you could go down a different route, larger diameter wheels and a higher profile tyre would effectively change the final drive ratio to bring the RPM's into more favourable territory (

Should have more than enough power. We will have to see. It was last making 520bhp at the fly, this time round it should have more of a bite to it.

That's good to know.

well according to my z it can do

Redline (or other RPM to use): 7100

Tire Width (mm) (Example: 195/60R15): 235

Aspect Ratio* (Example: 195/60R15): 45

Rim Diameter (in.) (Example: 195/60R15): 17

Transmission Gear Ratio (Example: 0.759:1): 0.752

Final Gear Ratio (Example: 4.083:1): 4.08

top speed 174

Mine hit 180 mph the other day go on you tube and type in 300zx top speed run. I did two runs and hit about 7600rpm or you can type in brize norton in the search on here. I will keep you all posted when they open up the runway again. I could have gone more but ran out of runway lol:hyper:
