a bit expensive how much would stock ones be in comparison

That is as cheap yer ever gonna get Steve and pretty much the most common piston peeps use.

Stock, which i would never advise anyone to fit, i would expect to be more expensive!

how ya doing anyway ??

6 pistons for around £300 inc delivery and tax is as Smithy says pretty much as cheap as its gona get. no sense in stripping your engine and fitting stock internals. the last thing you wana be doing is swapping pistons out again if in need for bigger power gains in the future

Am fine bud, just watching with interest how your going with the build mate and certainly wishing you all the best with it ;)

Stock pistons iirc are around £75 each and the rings are extra.Get the wisecos mate.use them in all my builds and rate them highly.

i have a question - those z1 pistons are slighty oversize, does that mean that the engine has to be re-bored in order to take them? Or whats the score there?

Im quite fancying the idea of starting an engine build for my car, and giving it ago my self. Dont know much about it but hey, learn by doing!

An idea ive had for tonight, not sure how much substance there is in it but i thought id ask.

For the 87.5mm ones a simple hone and deglaze the bores is ample, 88mm upwards a rebore and even then it's really minimal (88mm).

how about the head gasket ??

if going with the 88mm bore/ pistons and rings, is it wise to get a slightley bigger(88.5mm) head gasket

i was told by someone that using the same size head gasket could result in gasket burning ??

  • Author

already got an 88mm cometic head gasket but not sure if i can use with 88mm pistons and bore ??
