FAO Midlands people (& anyone else!): my Gig, this Thurs night (24th) in Birmingham.

I guess this goes out mainly to Midlands people but if anyone one else happens to find themselves in the area they're more than welcome (cheers Tony, will be good to see you!).

My band "This Burning Age" has got our first gig with this line-up at Bar Academy Birmingham. Which is going to be weird as I only saw Jon Crosby's VAST play there a few months back and commented at the time I'd like to play there...and bVgger me if we didn't get an offer through a couple of weeks later :)

There's three other bands on the bill and we're second from top billing (a nice position to ease us into it ;)).

You can hear the tracks we'll be playing by clicking on the banner below which will take you to the MySpace site. Tickets are £4 in advance (probably a bit late for that now unless you're passing the Solihull area!) or £5 on the door. Think there's about 3 members coming already but the more people that go (and saying they're coming to see us on the door!) the better :)

Cheers,

Leigh.

Sorry buddy, i would try to get down but we're not even sitting down till half seven

i must say im not into rock music etc. but i listened to that track all the way through  great stuff. Friday have you ever put any subtle Z references in your lyrics? i reckon you should ;)

Thanks for the kind words guys :) Still blows me away when anyone says they like the stuff. It is a bit of weird one as the music is very much an amalgamation of lots of different influences: rock, punk, new-wave, alternative, goth, electro, D&B...the b@stard offspring of which hopefully works in it's own right.

Wembley would be nice.

(Understatement :D).

Writing about a Z would certainly work up my "lyrical angst" quota for the month, lol! ;)

How about chucking some d&b, breakbeak and gangster into the mix?

I still rmember thinking the 3 tracks you sent me ages ago were brill matey just gutted i'm going to miss out :(

Elements of the first are are already there (check out the chorus in Panic....albeit surrounded by a wall of guitar noise! ;)), the second might rear it's head in the future and, although I have a soft spot for a little West coast gangsta style (early Snoop rules ;))...er...it may have to wait for the remixes, lol :D ;)

Cheers Darrell! :D

I'm going, but then you knew that already

lol ;)

Dave, I'm over at the studio in Wolves tomorrow but if you want to pop in the shop on your way past, Lucie will be in (till around 5:30 I think?) and I can leave your ticket with her mate. If you can't swing by till later the folks will be around and they won't mind you dropping in at all chap! :)

I leave work around 21:20 officially (read between the lines 20:30 at the latest)

could pop in on my way to work at 13:15 if that's easier for you.

That would be perfick Dave. I'll let Lucie know you're dropping by. Just watch she doesn't nick your clocks and pods...she's fallen in love with the LED/backlit thang after seeing 'em last time you were round! lol! :D

Friday whens the album bud!!??

The mixing is done and dusted, all that remains is the final Mastering which is going to be done at a dedicated Mastering studio, when I finally decide on one! Exchange Mastering: http://www.exchangemastering.co.uk/ is currently looking like a great option. They've worked on albums by bands I like such as The Kills, Crystal Castles and Hot Chip. Would be good if I can afford them...I'm guessing I probably won't be able to! :( (Saying that, the standard rate for a 10 track album seems to range from about £300-400 so, you never know...)

Once that's done, it'll be going for a limited run of either 500 or 1000 copies then distributed (as digital media as well) with the help of Ditto Music: http://www.dittomusic.com/ through my own Record Label which I'm in the process of setting up for this purpose (also using my website which I'm just finishing putting together with the help of Apache's good mate...it feels like I'm busier than a one legged man at an ass-kicking contest at the moment! :wack: )

All in all, that's a long-arsed way of saying I'm hoping for a release around the end of September/start of October if all goes to plan!

REALLY enjoyed playing that gig. Ok, the numbers were down a bit but the atmosphere generated by the peeps that came to support us made up for it in spades...I can't thank you and them enough tbh :)

Oh...and the last bands Eddie Cochran and The Undertones covers will haunt me to my grave...:headvswal :wack:
