Hi guys just sorting out a few probs with the motor.

Ive already searched on here but couldnt really find anything. My speedo is a bit tempremental as in it hardly ever works so i dont know how fast im going! lol. Every other dial works (rev counter, odometer still puts the kph on. etc) Just my speedo never does!

How can i fix this?

Thanks all.

any1? Got my MOT weds and pretty sure they will fail it if they notice!

The most common reason for speedo failure is a dailing KPH>MPH convertor on the back of the clocks if its a Jap import. Other reasons are Speed sensor on the Gearbox or a dry joint on the speedo cluster.

Does the Power steering get heavy as well ?

MOT testers do not check speedo operation.

yes the steering does get heavy only sometimes though!! ( how did you know ) lol

Could be dry joints on the back of the clocks(spray the board with wd40)

Or speed sensor in the gearbox aswell as the converter

opps i didnt read the replys very well soz

I have this same problem mine is not a dry joint though as I have just put a new cluster in and the chances of them being buggered too is pretty thin? I will let you know if and when I get it done what to do mate.

Hi, got same problem with mine, chatted to guys in Jap place in Fratton, he said, gearbox sensor, dry joint by gearbox or on cluster but worryingly he said if clocks have been clocked, this can cause problem

i shouldnt have thought it would have been clocked! I hope not anyway!

mine is also iffy but ever since i pulled the needles off. The needle does not keep up when you accelerate when it does catch up and you let off the power it sticks some times before dropping.

Still not working and really annoying my solution was a Defi VSD but not ideal.
