I've had T5's for years. The are a truley awesome car. Handling is pretty good on the post 2001 cars and its not the horse power that they deliver and boy they do. It's the Torque they punch and would say that 40 to 120 they areas strong if not stronger than the standard Z (RICA tuned T5's will push 500hp anf the full Factory race T5 engine's used to be not far off 700BHP)

the 2.4's are 260hp not 300

its the 2.5R's that are 300hp

according to parkers anyway

I've always liked the Volvo T5. HUGELY underestimated car. A friend of mine has a black estate one that he fitted BBS LM wheels to and a Volvo bodykit. It's got new paint and looks lovely. Power delivery is delightful and it sounds good too. I'd have one as a DD without a shot! Pretty good on fuel off boost.

I remember this video some years ago and thought it was pretty cool..

one thing i do know about ex cop cars, is the insurance wont pay you the full amount if involved in an accident and a write off. this happened to a mate of mine with an xr4i.

tyres changed every six month regardless, serviced and checked every 3 im sure ive read somewhere, or maybe the other way round lol

"Didn't know these were Z related."

Plus you never know what interesting things you might find pushed down the back of the seats!!

It will be properly serviced at no expense. Would be a good buy.

Umm, this is an urban legend at best.

I've 2 friends in the poice and there's a dude on ebay that all say the same thing, police cars are thrashed to within an inch of their life and are run on a shoestring. They're payed for by local govornment and if they can get cheap pattern parts they do. ex police cars are never a good idea:(

I would agree with the smaller cars being thrashed but cars such as this Volvo were driven by advanced drivers, probably a traffic officer and as a result was probably washed at least once a day. All fluids checked every tour of duty. All work is warranted for the first three years as well so not on a shoestring.

I love T5's, my second car was one and my dad owned one for years, absolutely superb.

However ex police, i personally would say no fvckin way, yeah yeah they've been well maintained blah blah! Watch a bit of road wars and you'll see what those cars go through! And it does'nt matter how good the police driver is, they still have to thrash the cars to keep up with crims that have nothing to lose!

Seriously IMO save up a bit more and get a normal one ;) :)

Correct... my ex nieghbour was on traffic and he used to tell me all the lad things they get up to in the big powerful saloons!

But these cars are designed to be stretched arent they? As far as i understand its much better to get a performance car that has been driven and well maintained rather than one that has been stood around or is just used to potter about in!

A car does'nt like to be stood and it does'nt like to be ragged round all the time! A normally driven car will be perfect, one that has been well looked after and has been used. One with really low miles is'nt necessarily the best buy as it has not been used that often, however it is better than an ex-police car that has been ragged day and night its whole life!!!

Just find a middle ground :)

The graded police drivers are taught "Roadcraft" and this shows how to drive the car well but also being kinder to it than the average driver would be. But then again everyone else knows best. We have had a few ex police cars in the family and they have all done very well.

Seen many Police cars at auction and 8/10 of them are dogs, I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy ex-Police...

If there on pursuit they will just leave them in 2nd or 3rd and use the whole rev range around the city

One of my first Range Rovers was an Ex Police car and to be honest once i got a new roof lining it was sound. Half leather sports seat, 3.9 with a higher ratio box. Had it for 3 years of good service. I liked it So much I was going to buy another but ended up with an ex MOD 4.2 Range Rover in Metalic Burgundy. That Really was the muts.
