Brake pads

I know wrong place.

Got bored on tech.

Does £23+vat sound ok 4 front pads?

Also i cant reduce pics of my z (im not good wiv computers)

That is very cheap but you wouldn't catch me with pads that cost that much. The brakes are bad enough on a Z without using cardboard pads.

You get what you pay for. Pay more please as I might be the poor sod in front of you !

I used to use the Carbon/Kevlar pads from SE which were just over £100. I don't recall the name of the manufacturer but someone on here will know.

Craig once imported some direct and they worked out a bit cheaper but I think his view was that the saving wasn't worth it.

They made an enormous difference in braking - worth every penny.

Metal Matrix pads from the states are also pretty good from what I've heard although I only ever used them on the rears which isn't a great way to judge them.

Seriously, cheap pads are not sensible. I once cooked the standard Nissan pads and was VERY fortunate to find this out as I arrived at a roundabout which had an exit which was more or less straight on (even though I wanted to turn right). It could just as easily have been some poor family's house on the outside of a bend on a country lane. Doesn't bear thinking about.

Porterfield I think. Also worth considering EBC pads, Greenstuff would be appropriate for normal road use.

That price was for ebc pads (standard) they didnt have any other choices for a z suprise suprise.

I shall have to do some hunting.

Thanks again.

That's the one Andy wink.gif mine were £200 as I use R34 brakes,but they are £129 99 from SE.

IMHO I would not use anything but Porterfield.

KEEP IT SIDEWAYS;).

hi,

i've had red stuff these don't work from cold a bit of a pain but once warm maintain good brakes no matter what you do

i've got in at the moment greenstuff v4's there great from cold make your eyes fall out :eek ,but you can make them fade but they recover quick,it just depends what sort of driving you do and how heavy you brake..etc..

also it might be good to check your discs as anything under 26mm thickness can increase the temp of the brakes drasticly, also check the rear pads because if these are shot there is more strain on the front brakes and to be honest these are not really big enough

I just got some metallics from MJP www.mjpauto.com at £72.73 per pair (LH front and RH front) inc VAT inc dly.

Seem better than OEM to me but I am not a track fiend.

Neil, the new redstuff pads work from cold and last twice as long as the old ones.

I have these and they work very well all across the speed range.

I got my last set of Porterfield pads from Paul Whiffin at http://www.whifbitz.co.uk/ for about £81.

Porterfield pads are great but they can generate a lot of heat - so you have to be careful not to warp your discs(standard Nissan Discs are good at this).
