Engine cutting out on idle

Hi, hope someone can help me with this.

Ive just bought my first 300zx tt on a 92 plate, superb car but the engine cuts out when idling.

It idles just under 1000rpms but when i rev quite high say 5000-6000rpm then lift off the gas pedal it drops down to 500rpm then cuts out, it starts no with no problems at all idles at 500rpm then cuts out.

I dont really know much about these cars yet so any help would be great.
