Hi,

Brain was whirring over tonight, and just had a thought with all the problems on the forum with detonation.

Is the fuel pump really up to the requirements, it seems most of us modify everything else on the cars apart from the fuel pump.

Is maybe a 10 year old pump really up to the spec to pumping fuel to a tuned up Z?

Just a novice mechanic with insomnia!

Ideas on a postcard!

Usual answer is that the fuel pump is a monster and more than up to the job of most Zed tuning requirements. However, as you mention it is now 10 years old and may be due to fail, but I don't think they would go off slowly. There is also the fuel pressure regulator to consider ...

Fuel pumps do get tired over a period of time, I imagine the wormwheel/archimedes screw whatever it is wears and doesn't seal as well.

However the Zed pump is hugely overspecced for the purpose.

I just fitted one to my S13. smile.gif

Oh the N/A zeds have a pissy little pump in comp to the TT.
