I have a Jap TT but it has the limiter in, I'm heading off to the nurbergring at the beggining of August so wondered if there was a quick & hopefully not too expensive way of doing this to maximise my fun?

Thing is it's already converted but I don't know how it's been done as I haven't checked to be honest

You could get a socket'd ECU (theres one in the classifieds) and a chip (£50) which would take the limiter off and raise the redline by a few hundered rpm?

Crotchrocket & Steviecopland: If I get a socketed ecu, I then need a chip as well right?

The needle cuts out ? Do you mean the needle drops to zero, or do you mean at 95 thats when the speed limiter cuts in and engine cuts out momuntarily and wont go any faster ?

Not the engine, the engine still runs but the needle drops back to zero. When I slow down again it springs back into life, just doesn't work over 95.

So is everyone agreed this should sort me out then?

Also to save me some time where can I locate the ECU, would like to check if there's something similar already on there.

i doubt the feed will be coming from the S.sensor at the ECU mearly of the clocks, That will sort you out one of them, Which comes with instructions on how to wire in and which pin to use on the rear of the clocks, pick up signal is from a blue/green wire cant remember what number but instructions will tell you. Worth checking wiring is ok with current speedo convertor first might be poor connection.

I have got this fitted to my car, and i fitted it myself :)

You take the speedo head out (clocks), which is alot easier than it looks and that box comes with instructions on how to wire it in. There are three wires that have metal holes on the end and you undo three screws at the back of the speedo and clamp them underneath and then there is one wire which needs 'wiring' in, which means you will have to cut into one wire. Then the job is done, your car will be derestricted, it will read in MPH and clock up in Miles, also the annoying bong disappears. :)

I apologise if i confused you there, i have a knack for doing that, but i can assure you it is a very simple job, about an hour.

HTH :)

Well I definitely have some kind of convertor in there as I'm clocking up in miles already. Looks like mine is playing up then, I'll have to find some time to take off the clocks & have a look what's behind it.

Cheers Folks

Ok so I found the convertor

It's got a power, an earth & it sits in between a cable (green/yellow)

but haven't quite managed to get the clocks out completely, I've got this far

GGRRR can't get the plastic cover from the fron out from over the steering wheel to make room. Will have another go tomorrow but has anyone got or heard of the F.E.S convertor? if so do you know if it should have removed the limiter, I'm anxious to buy another but don't want to do it for no good reason.
