the dreaded blue smoke!!

Hi people

I have posted this problem a while back, but just want to be sure of the problem.

While coming on the gas, then coming off, above 3000rpm, no problem.

Below 3000rpm, i give it some gas then foot off for approx 2-5 secs, then the blue smoke starts to roll out, foot back on the gas, ooohhh my god!!! loads of the blue stuff, then its clear. As i said before, higher than 3000rpm, no smoke.

It's a TT, jap, 555 injectors, hks induction, hybrid tubs, de-cat, manual, boosting at 15psi.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Alan

I had a spare engine, which was chucked in.

One i did notice though that when driving my car and said smoke was billowing out of the back, if you put the clutch down it stopped. I had a whole new driving style because of my car and this LOL. Smoke was only on De-Acceleration

Check for any smoke from the dipstick and oil cap with engine running. Did you do a wet test on the two 130 cylinders ? , just a few drops of oil to see if it rises.

just done a wet test on the 2 low cylinders, both came back at 138. originally were 132.

does this confrim anything?

Id say it indicates your piston rings are loosing pressure.

if i go down the road of replacing my pistons and rings with wiseco forged ones, what other bits will i need to complete this job?

also, do i need to pull the engine out for this?

cheers

Its a lot easier to pull the engine (i think i recall i can be done it situ, but everybody pulls the engine) and whilst it is out go around and replace all the vac hoses, plus do a plenum water and egr bypass.

if i replace the pistons and rings, do i need any thing else? is it worth getting a complete gasket set or just the ones i need?

Mate if you replace the pistons and rings your obviously have to fit new bearings and for the price of a set of complete engine gaskets then id say yes do them all, you can buy a kit with all the gaskets you need including valve stems, hg's, plenum gaskets, throttle body gaskets etc etc.

If your pulling the engine,do a rebuild!-saves a lot of hassle later!;)

whats the price difference with just piston and rings, compared to complete rebuild.

dont want to spend tooooo much money that i have not got, lol.

cheers
