I remember the first time I used that in Sainsburys. £129 somthing and a whole bunch of rejected foriegn or damaged coins :)

A quick google turns up that the charge is 7.9% and that this is split between coin star and the retailer, so no, it isn't a charity donation.

There is an option when you first start which is recieve a cash reciept which you can exchange at customer services or donate it all to charity.

 

either way you still pay the fee (cash reciept) or they take the fee (donation).

I wasn't going to donate it to charity lol

 

Well 20 quid went on petrol, 40 went to my bro to pay for my radiohead ticket and 8 went on chips for the family so i have 12 quid left :D
