Likelihood of getting a SWB slicktop tt in black/silver/white

Hi all,

Might be selling my car, but only if I can replace it with a CZ32.

I've been talking to Takehito of F-S-Auto and he says he hasn't seen a

SWB

Slicktop

Manual

Series 3+

TT

in Silver, Black, or White (not pearl)

in months and months. Now he said if I went for a different colour (possible respray) or an Auto and he converts it to Manual I'll increase my chances.

Any importers here or people that watch Autotrader et al more than me ever see these come up?

Would an auto to manual conversion be as pukka as a born manual car?

Full resprays, that sounds like pain and something I'd wanna do myself and in this country.

Help, decisions decisions!

Admittadly you have short listed one of the rarest combo's but they are out there.

Slicktops are rare as a general rule, however Its not the colour or the Gearbox that makes it even rarer (there are just as Many manuals and Auto Z32's !), it would be the series 3 part....as series 3 car onwards are very rare anyway...let alone as slicktops. What was the reason for wanting s3 over a s2 ?

A friend just got himself a Slicktop TT Manual in White last week, although it was a series 1, and SWZ have scrapped 2 slicktops this month !! (1x silver accident damaged and 1x red.....both series 1).

I believe dunk300zxtt will have a 98 Silver Slicktop TT manual for sale soon !?

See your blue one is also very nice ;)

I think it's because I already have a series 3, and don't really want to change that.

Looking at it, the difference between a 2 and 3 is err nothing much???

Maybe I can go for a 2?

Either way...

Series 2 has better climate control, but Lee /importance recently sold a 97 silver SWB manual TT. So they are out there.

i think your limiting yourself with the colour choice, why dont you just get the model you like. Chances are you'll end up changing a few body bits and have to have them sprayed so you might aswell save up and have them and a respray done at the same time

This car will be for sale soon if you're interested.

oooh, when? how much ?? :)

Well there's a mint 98 slicktop up for auction in a couple of days, best thing though is that it's an October 98 so it come's with the full 99 spec!!! It's a Grade 4 car, 50K miles, in silver but N/A but would make a great TT conversion car!! Pictures look great!!

That's reassuring thanks guys :)

Trying to sort an o2 sensor for mine atm, was quoted £120+ ish, sounds right? Ahhh just the man, Paul I tried to ring you today lol, do you have any used but working o2 sensors for sale please? I'm looking to fix my car but if really they're the sorta thing I should buy new then I'll have to do that. Oh and I'll give you £99, I'll bring the trailer round tomorrow ;)

Dunk you have pm :)

Lee I saw that slicktop, very nice indeed. Again shame it's not a TT.

I know I could pay for a full respray, but to do it properly then the whole car would have to be stripped which is a job I really don't want :) I could get an NA and covert to TT, but what's the point? I know this is car pervy, but the vin plate would always say it's not born a TT. I really like my car despite it's faults so only want to change if it it's a definite step forward for me, not sideways :)

Plus to do all this I've got to sell my car to a mate, and this can go very wrong two ways. My currently very reliable and happy car goes wrong on him (that scares me lol) or I sell it, never find a swb for sale, and cry for the next year trying to replace my current car...

Anyway seems they are about if I have patience :)

I'm liking that alot.

Make a better Chevy V8 conversion. Until then you could really turn up the wick on the NA and see just how much power the standard lump could punch before breaking up.

Yeah that is a v sexy car!

So is that a grey and not the silver? Looks pretty classy. I think given a choice that's exactly how I'd like a 300 to look, maybe slight variation on the wheels, otherwise perfect and not too in your face, proper street sleeper. Add about 800bhp and insane lol :D

Well after some thought i've decided to have a good crack at buying the ZX pictured, will only have to wait a month or so by the time it arrives before it will be ESVA exempt;)

Bad news... just got some info from my agent....

Steering wheel in poor condition, seat bolster worn...

Driver's side front wing been replaced, (light tap at some stage)

Various bodywork repairs done over the years...

Quite a number of small dents and scratches over the bodywork:(

Area around the front suspension also has a hairline crack:(

Front windscreen scratchy...

So won't be going for this car... pictures and auction grades can be ever so deceiving!! So next time someone talks about a Grade 4 car do not assume that the car will be clean, in Japan you gotta get someone to check it out!!

The auction sheet below says it all really... note the W2 indication on both sides of the car which means both rear quarters of the car have been re-painted at some stage... and yet still auction Grade 4!!
