Mines lost it's bling touch over the last 3 years of being off the road.

The polished stuff has started to oxidise and started to show signs of rust spots.

Was looking through the rides section and saw this picture of Smithy's Engine bay (hope you don't mind me posting it up).

I have to say this is one of if not the nicest engine bay I have ever.

Are all the polished bits chromed as well or is there some sort of lacqure on them ?

Hi mate, glad yer like it, i kinda went for the clean and uncluttered look ;)

Your right polished Alloy does start to oxidise after time and looks terrible.

Also polished alloy, stainless and chrome finishes are all slightly different, so i wanted to get them all the same where possible.

The balance bar, hard pipes and water pipes are all chromed and by the same company, nearly 10 years old those parts! some other little peiecs are also chromed but not really that good a finish, i bought them already done and spots of rust are appearing.

The plenum is polished then laquered with a special laquer and i added a couple drops of Gold tint, so when the sun shines it's a bit different.

Fuse covers, slam panel, power sterring pot and my own custom rad cover are all polished stainless. Various nuts/bolts are either stainless or titanium.

All painted parts are true Candy apple Red (sprayed chrome 1st) with a Gold ghost flake added to the laquer for when the sun hits em :D

Am thinking a new look for next year with something a bit special, so watch this space, lol

cheers

well if you are going to go for a new look, give me first dibs on anything you may be selling :)

Yes I spent most of Z008 drooling over Smithy's engine bay. Deffo one of the nicest on the club. I was almost ashamed to open my bonnet parked up next to him.

If I'm honest Vinz and I don't want to upset you but. I actuallly prefer Smithys engine bay. Your engine bay has obviously got 10 times more bling in it, and you've obviously spent so much time on it, but it's just all the stickers. I think it would be much more classy without them, but that's just my opinion and my engine bay sucks compared to both yours and smithys :).
