I am playing with the idea of house of kolor metallic satin black with a satin lacquer top coat, with the rear spoiler gone it will look like a stealth bomber, anyone done this or know of people running satin finish and can give me some tips and advice

i personally LOVE that look. Seen it on a few cars recently. The only thing is that at night time I don't think you'd notice as much so would lose the presence?

didn't someone on here have their Zed painted in some random paint usually reserved for choppers? Can't think who it was...but I'm sure someone will be along shortly...

there was a matt black zed, can remember whos it was but it where i got the idea of my wheels from

But yours looks so nice already in Red Kev, one of the best finishes i've seen on a Red Z.... The satin look is awesome but just worried you may regret it once it's done...

the matt is too flat but the satin finishes are the dogs

my paint is starting to show its age and needs either a full red respray or a colour change, the house of kolor finishes are amazing

im thinking satin metallic with gloss mirrors and smoked rear lights, the offset of the chrome lights and a clear side indicator will be just right i think

anyone got chalk?

the Matt and satin looks the same to me

Same here, TBH i thought it was just two ways of saying the same thing. :wack:

The Merc looks good, but it would probably look good in any colour lol.. The more matt finishes look like an un-finished repaint, job in progress IMO

i tend to think they look unfinished!

anyone got chalk?

Hope you don't do it. Makes the car look tired and is very unflattering.

funny you should mention chalk, there was an old mk2 polo at the gti internationals painted in matt black and everyone was given chalk to scribble all over it!

not the Polo but the same theme!

have to agree. they look like a cheap paint job done extreamly badly when in fact they are a expencive job looking bad. great if your after teh rat look.

teh satin looks a tad better, but again its expencive paint for not a lot of effect.

Go for it!! I think it can look pretty cool - like a stealth bomber but if you are going to do it i would strongly advise you to stay away from the smoked lenses etc. it will make the car look awful as it will be too black. Far better to stick to the 99 spec lights - the detailing will make a huge difference rather like the tasty merc above!
