Hi Semco

I'm over in Falkirk. Let me guess where you got your Z. I recognise the wall!! Went there a couple of times myself when I was looking.

Take it the whine is not turbo whine? Usually thrust bearing noise is only heard at idle and disappears when you press the clutch.

Willie

hi willie yes thats where i bought it and the whining goes when i put the clutch in but when im driving it comes back but its not turbo whining as my 200sx used to whine on the turbo can you fix these cars?

if it goes when you disengage the clutch then it sounds like its in the gearbox - does it do it when stationary?? poss input shaft bearing

I feel the need, the need for speed!

Might be that the clutch thrust bearing is a little dry from the car being stored before and after shipment. Could quieten with use maybe. Like Paul says it could be the input shaft bearing. If it is the input shaft bearing to the gearbox then I am not sure if that can be bad newes or just noisy but obviously it would be worth checking that the transmission oil is up to the level. A dry gearbox will soon have all the gears and bearings whining. Changing the clutch release bearing or the input shaft bearing is a gearbox out job either way. Then you might as well change the clutch friction plate as well even if the one in is OK. Hope you can get it sorted

Willie

they said the gearbox and clutch and all bearings are covered by the warranty but they wont fix them unless they break and are not just noisy but if it helps the noise is getting quieter with driving the car the same as when i picked it up it was a bit smokey when flooring it but it cleared up within 5mins and has never returned also i warped the front disks right away due to the car lying around for so long and then using the brakes so hard my fault i know

Hi Paul and good luck with your new Zed, she is a bewt!

I have taken the liberty of re-doing your sig picture to save bandwidth - it is now an 10k jpg instead of a 100k bitmap.

Right click, save and upload into rides and and hey presto, your threads will be less bandwidth intense smile.gif

Cheerz,
