Help wiring new aerial...???

Ive fitted a new power ariel to my Zed, ive put the earth to earth and the live to a permanement live...

 

However i have put the blue (remote) onto the remote connection on my amplifier so when i switch the radio on the amp comes on and the ariel goes up, it works fine as it goes back down when i switch it off...

 

However, speaking to a friend earlier he tells me i should not put my remote to the amp as i could damage something... Is this true?
