Hi all,

Firstly feel my pain, my TT is only about as quick as a 1.6 Civic on the motorway (probably not standard, I only just crept past it), and last night only about as quick as an old shape Celica GT. I'll get it on Conzult tonight, it might not be running right, feels ok though.... it's just wrong.

Just been searching through the forum. I ordered a Apexi AVC-R to try to sneak a little bit more boost and see what boost I'm actually making.

I've just realised to get extra boost I need more than just the electronic boost controller, I need a chip as well.

What is my easiest, simplest option? Quite fancy a Jon Dixon chip (haven't seen any for sale). For now I just want to get my boost controller installed and running. From what i've read here I should only really go for about 12psi. I have filter, exhaust, 60k miles, late '93 model, otherwise stock.

One day if money allows maybe I'll go for a Greddy emanage setup or something (along with better injectors etc), for now I just want my car running properly and not lean :)

Cheers

PM John Dixon, if you want a JD chip. 13-14psi is what most people run on standard turbos and injectors.

Perhaps yours is in Safety mode and/or boost leak ?

Defiantly not running right anyhow - I drive a St202 Celica GT as daily driver, and while its quite sprightly (170'ish bhp) it would get absolutely killed in all situations by a standard 300zx TT.

Hi mate.

I really hope so! I ride motorbikes so generally find cars slow to accelerate (or not savage anyway). But my car kept up with everyone fine at Japfest (everyone who was standard anyway) and seems to pull fairly well.

Foot to the floor though it won't pull past 140mph, just won't have it.

I have my own conzult setup, I don't have any warning lights on my dash, maybe I can use this to fault find. When I tried it the other day it didn't have any ecu errors.

I just don't want the 18yr kiddy on my road going round saying "my civic is as quick as a 300", I'd sooner sell the car than have that happen :)

You don't live far away, it's not like the cars around these parts are all street sleepers and tuned up well :)

As already said, just PM John Dixon, Andy P or DTA they will all sort you out with a chip :)

Already onto John :)

I like to think long term, waiting for Jon to get back to me so he hasn't had chance to answer yet. But what is my most felxible long term option? For now I want to run everything stock apart from my (fairly sizeable) single exit exhaust and HKS intake. For now the chip will see me through, but if in a years time I've more money will it be still good to go for the next level or tuning, or can it be remapped?

Your next step would probably involve larger injectors (eg 555's), at that point you would need a new map.

Ok cool, I think I should get the car running right, all problems sorted first and go from there :)

In case anyone was wondering I appear to have a dodgy o2 sensor which was causing my power problems :)

A faulty O2 sensor may cause some odd problems but wouldn't normally affect top end power. Midrange could be compromised though, depending on how the sensor has failed.

Hi yeah, that seems about right. Sometimes on full throttle when you've been nailing it say on the motorway for a while it sorta cuts out so no power for half a second and then continues on again. The o2 sensor is stuck at 3.4v on the left and conzult says it's saying it's lean. Cold running and midrange is where it's wrong and top end power, doesn't want to max out on the motorway. Car still seems to go alright though, but I've stopped driving now I know for sure somethings odd.

Trying to get a tool tomorrow from the snap on man to get the bloody sensor out!

If it fails lean then the car runs rich on one side and you will use more fuel than usual.
