the car has been going great , but yesterday just after i got some petrol it started missing and chugging a bit i thought maybe bad petrol; this morning i started the car got out of it as i was letting it warm up before i drove it, as i walked past the rear wheel drivers side i heard a whirring noise, got down to listen the noise lasted a few seconds, stopped for about 30 secs then started again this happened about 6/7 times then the noise stopped altogether. the car was ticking over fine i drove to work, car drove fine this was 9am came out of work at 7pm it wouldnt start turning over fine, battery fine, alarm fine, would you think fuel pump is gone, or what else should i be checking tomorrow

sounds like it. They seem to just go ive recently found out. I have a citroen xsara which was fine, no unusual noises or anything. Then one day, coming up the motorway at 70mph lost all power emission light came on and it rolled another 200 yards and stopped. Pump totally dead!

Replaced pump and all okay., however a noise coming from the area around the fuel tank is probably a dead or dieing pump i would say :)

Ah nuts Trish! sorry to hear that, hopefully it's an easy enough fix. Just wondering did ya replace your petrol tank yet?

Sounds like fuel pump to me,i can here a whirring niose from rear of car when ticking over which is the pump.
