Its got to be a coolant leak eek.gif

First check level in rad,top up if required.

Then run engine on idle and check all hoses

also check inside the car for wet carpets under the dash.(matrix)

KEEP IT SIDEWAYS BABY!

Fill up your expansion tank to the right level first. Then top up radiator. When you run with the cap off you may need to top up a few times as the air is released from the system.

Deffinitely a coolant problem. This sound similar to my problem, but mine was the water pump. Being rectified this week.

Put 2 pots or radweld in it at work today, Seems to be a good short term cure for now!

I thought Radweld was bad for the heater matrix frown.gif

Vijay

Yup - I put that stuff in last year. 3 days later I was wringing it out of the carpet.

Radweld is a no no frown.gif.

It already had radweld in it when i got it, cos i'd topped up the coolant i figured id upset it. I'll sort her out properly at the earliest opportunity,

Jeff, Prepare for a red one, in for a mystery coolant leak!

Surely if she's overheating and pissing all her water all over the place and radweld stops her doing this it can't be all bad!

Anyway, do Zeds realy need heaters? next time your driving put your hand in the rear footwell by the transmission tunnel.

It does stop leaks YES! but it also can block up the coolant system and f**k your engine frown.gif

You are far better replacing the offending hose/matrix/rad or whatever, than adding that stuff.

im just nocturnal anyway bedctime now, On to the overheating problem, can it be caused by air in the system, or is there a more likely serious cause? not a matrix thing as everyting inside is dry, but when i open the door the hot draught thet comes from under the car seems damp, me think its a ****ed rad, but when i look at it it looks brand new.

Ah well, off to zedworld she goes!

Yes overheating can be caused my air in the system,Thank F**k it is not the matrix as it is a real pig to replace.

Your problem can be a No of things

Faulty Thermostat staying closed,Faulty radiator/expansion tank cap, leaking radiator

hoses heater matrix or Cylinder head gasket(I hope not!!)or even water pump.

Start by filling coolant system up making sure all air is out the system If poss get a local garage do a 2 bar pressure test on system to discover any leaks but dont run the car until repaired with the risk of warping the head or blowing the head gasket

Cheers m8
