My 300ZX has developed an odd problem with the ABS. Everytime I come to a stop the ABS kicks in just as I slow to about 2 miles/hour, I can hear it whirring away behind the drivers seat. It's like the ECU senses the wheels are coming to a stop but doesn't sense that I'm already at a very low speed. No warning lights are showing. This used to happen on very rare ocasions but now happens every time I stop. I have bled the fluid at the ABS unit and no air was present. I've also checked the LED on the ECU and no error codes.

Any ideas?

Not a chance bud, too much fun messing with TT's!!!

have u got a bigger brake setup?

What if the sensors were dirty what would that do?

No big brake setup, senors cant be dirty but (see below)...

when you had your smash was any part of the sensor on the front wheel damaged?

Gaz, you may be on the right track. I was getting an intermittent ABS warning light for about a month. While I was tracking this problem I noticed my far side front wheel bearing was shagged. When I replaced the right hub assembly (easier than replacing the bearing) I noticed that the wheel sensor had come into contact with the gear at some point and chipped out a piece of it. I cleaned it up and reinstalled it and the ABS light never came on again. I will try replacing the sensor unless someone has a better idea.

recon your on the money there mate:hyper:

check abs signal rings for cracks/damage this is a common fault that causes problem you described.

also mate on older cars the sensor ring on the back of the wheel becomes corroded the sensor connot read it all you have to do is wire brush it hope this helps you

The sensor ring is on the halfshafts on the rear not the hub and the sensor is connected to the diff.

Oh no it isnt:nono: The sensor ring and the sensor are located on the diff.

when i say sensor rings i meant the groves on the halfshafts or just at the end of them, so yeah on the diff then, so stop being clever:tongue: , they rotate with the shaft or "diff" they are called sensor rotors so there , the sensors, those little round things with the wires coming of them are on the diff too.
