Whos done the head light conversion on thier own?

The nights are comeing quicker, getting darker and lasting longer and I have decided that I want the silver light backing that many people have on here. I know some people say it looks bad some say it looks good, but I am not bothered as long as it makes my dips work better. There are a few roads round here with no street lights and some with only a few, and for some reason Wigan is changing all the lamp posts at the moment and quite a few are out of action and will be for a while.

Any way. Enough of the babbling. Has any one done this themselves and done a write up on how to do it. Does the front bumper have to come off?

Any help will be greatful.

Thanks

Stuart

Hello Stuart,

The only person who I know did it themselves was Senna. There's a write up in the tech stuff and with some pix's on Jeff's site: http://www.zedworld.co.uk/wizzn.html

Let me know how you get on as I'll be doing mine in the next few weeks.

def. keep me posted on how you both get on.. really fancy doing mine.

But bit nervous to be honest... I know! Wimp! smile.gif

As for other people that have done them.. MAC 1's got the conversion job as I recall.. I had a look round it at billing, that's what made me decide it looked fine.. especially on my car (silver)

Hi Nix did I speak to you at Billing?

Jeff did the silver and I fitted them Stu wink.gif.

See the contacts and other 300 site on the menu.

The nuts that hold the headlights in nearest the rad, are a real S.O.B. to get out.I would suggest that you get a set of small ratchets with flexible handles. I bought a set made by Kamasa and have found them invaluable for all sorts of jobs.

If you are coming down to this neck of the woods call me if you want a hand doing it.

Grant,

How did you find it when you did it?

Was there much improvement?

Stuart

I think I did it around January time? The difference is that you get much sharper beam definition, brighter and slightly wider.

They're still not as good as a modern car. I did have a set of driving lights under the bumper in the grille opening and the upgrade is but better than that.

It is not an easy job mainly because of the difficulty in getting that nut undone. If you can get the nut undone easily then it is a much less frustrating job.

Also I would recommend taking the wheels off for ease of access.
