Im wanting to buy a home cinema system for no more than 200quid.

It needs to have connectivity for DVD, TV(duh), Xbox 360 and if possible, my computer so I can play my music through the new speakers.

Please drop links or information in your replies, will be buying this weekend :)

I could do with some pointers, Ive had a look around and I dont know what ports are for xbox, whats for dvd, whats for pc etc. Im rubbish when it comes to electrics!

Has the Xbox got red and white RCA audio jacks? If so, an Acoustic Solutions system (5.1) system is a great cheap setup. I've got mine hooked up to my Wii, SkyHD and HD projector and it's really good. Mine was about £100 from Argos. Perhaps post up a photo of the Xbox connectors?

Im using a yamaha RX-V350 for my amp and it came bundled with a 5.1 speaker setup and it came to £300 but that was about 3 years ago now. Iv'e got the pc, DVD, Sky and video hooked up to it

maplin sell a 5.1 av reciver (amp with connectivity for all your audio visual equipt) for about £80 then all you need is some speakers inc an active sub.

F**kin hell Shader, i want to listen to music and watch videos not set up my own disco! Thats some serious equipment.

As for connectors on the back of the xbox. Theres an HDMI port, another port that lets me send HD signal to my tv (Male connectors there's two red, one white, one green, one blue and one yellow)Pic Herehttp://media.teamxbox.com/games/ss/1141/1127138261.jpg Would these plugs just go into the back of the surround sound amp?

The red, green and blue are for RGB input to a monitor.

Red and white are are L and R audio

Yellow is (I think) S video (or is it composite)

Just the red and white in the amp

RGB or Yellow for video but not both

The logitech z-5500 if you just want an amp and speakers, got lots of awards and recommendations!

yes you can just connect them to the component on the amp, if it was me id be using the HDMI to go to the tv and the optical to the amp to get the surround as just pluging in the white and red cables will only give you stero

I think I am going to buy the Logitech Z-5500, found it for £149 and seems to tick all the boxes. Will let you know how I get on with it and thanks for all your help :)

Right, everything has arrived! It's quite an impressive bit of kit however....

What cables do I need now to connect them all together? On the back of the control box there is a coax in and optical in but on the back of the box it shows a system set up with a PC connecting, Ipod, Xbox and a TV/DVD. Please help :)

what kit are you using. If you give me the model numbers or a pic of the rear of the boxes ill give you a list of what you need and how to connect them

hey buddy get on ebay buy a yamaha or any other surround amd and a bose system second hand and you will be in surround heaven

If the games consol has'nt go an RCA output, you can always play it through the aux input of the VCR or DVD recorder. That way if you have got a few games consols you wont need to connect all of them up to the amp, you just need to connect the RCA's on VCR or DVD recorder.
