Should i use a zinc primer then a heat resistant paint?

I bought some hammerite gloss black but its reacting to the metal, but seems to work when painted over the primer but im worried the primer will come off with heat? :(

Ok back onto the subject :D What kinda paint will i need for the plenum ive decided on cherry red :D sorry radron but im copying your style haha just looks so damn fine :D

Dont mention powder coating as its a DIY jobby :D

 

Can i get away with not smoothing it so much or does it have to be smoothed so much for the paint to stick... or will it look naff?

i really want to know the answer to this question, it might give me an idea too, cant afford powder coating so the alternative might be......

What about using a high temp matt paint then finishing it off with a high temp clear coat? will that make it glossy?
