I am currently using Norton 2008 (and have always previously used Norton products and been happy with them) and my subscription is about to expire. I was considering either renewing the 2008 subscription or upgrading to their 360 v2 product. I have read quite a few reviews of the version 1 of the 360 product and how it slows your PC down - I assume v2 has taken care of these problems. My PC is already a bit slower when booting up or shutting down using 2008. What experience of Norton do people have or which other Internet security / anti virus software do people recommend ?

Bsically to sum up...I am using XP, I am about to change to a wireless network and I want internet security / anti-virus software that will give adequate protection, but will not kill the processing time of my PC !

For XP I used AVG (Anti-Virus) and Zonealarm (Firewall). Both are very good, have regular updates competent and most importantly, FREE!

Ive been using F-secure for years now without any problems whatsoever and would recommend it..I was using AVG previously and never had any problems with that either....

I use Kaspersky. By far the best product for performance and protection out there. Norton is a real resource hog :/

i use mcafee its dell recomended dont no if it is compatable with any other comps but good program and easy to manage

aol dropped mcaffee last year as its crap, they now supplu aol with kapspersky anti virus.

none of the usual apps have proactive defense and none of them pick up the new range of rootkit, bootblock scripts or av blockers, kaspersky does it period, prescans the o.s on boot up and the entire active memory range, pre scans websites before they load up and can forward scan any hyper or java, applet link inthe pages also.

you get one months free trial from their website fully working for 9 seperate bits of software.

on my oc it uses 0.01 cpu processing task at any one time.
