anyone know what would cause alot of smoke to come from the exhusts also turbos only go from -14 to 0 when i press the pedel down. and on tick over the revs are jumping, there is smoke coming from behind the engine after a few seconds of running and it stinks of something burning? i bought the car as a project and was a non runner due to the wire harness being ripped out i put in a new harness from z world new plugs and it fired up staight away. there is a gray 2 pin plug spare and this is on the set of 3 plugs injector 6, and oxy sensor, and this spare one. so if anyone has any ideas please tell me.

forgot to mention the car just cuts out soon as it starts when the smoke from the engine bay gets bad.

Sounds like a major boost leak. The grey 2 pin plug is for the vvt solenoid look for a white shrouded cable coming from the back of the passenger head :)

Black smoke from exhaust I presume ? As Andy says, sounds like a Bad Boost leak.

 

Also sounds like either a Rocker cover gasket leak and/or a leak at the Turbo oil feed pipes

yep....a boost/vacumn leak is relatively simple problem to fix...although much easier to diagnose with a boost leak detector.

how do all,i have found a wire coming from back of the engine deep inside and just above the gear box, any ideas what sensors are down there and would this affect the running of the engine? im thinking that what ever is down there is the reason i have a spare gray 2 pin plug..

If it is comming from the middle of the vee it is the Det Sensor wire.

Hi its not that easy to replace, and i dont think that will cause your engine to smoke you must be in safty boost too cant you get it to a garage to get it checked out you may need alot of work done to it .

Heavy smoke and no boost ?. Sounds like one of your Turbo seals has gone.

 

Does it make any kind of noise when you try to go into boost ?

Not going above 0 psi can be indicative of a seized turbo !
