ahh god bless Labour the people party for doing fook all as per normal.

Not sure there is much they can do about it, apart from impose a windfall tax on the oil companies of course ...

The government could start by not taking a good 70% as tax when you fill your car up. Oil companys get a few pence a litre so if they are making billions how much is the government making? At least the oil companys do huge amounts of work and exploration to drill the oil, refine it and pipe it etc, what does the government do for their 70% cut....fook all thats what.

Well I guess it's no longer a 70% cut, but they are creaming it on the VAT. Will be interesting to see how much of a revolt there will be when the government goes for it's additional 2p per litre fuel escalator tax that it planned for September/October. Obviously, they won't need to do it because they will have made more than that up on the VAT due to the price increases, but there again by then it will be so expensive that we may not notice ....

Where this really hits is if you have oil heating as that only has 5% VAT and no additional tax. A few years ago I paid as little as 9.5p per litre, today it's over 55p per litre - that hurts when you have to buy 2500 litres at a time !

Profits at the big oil companies is not related to the price we pay at the pump. In fact, it has nothing to do with it. Where the oil companies make their money is much further up the "pipe line" (so to speak). They extract the oil at a certain cost and then sell it on the open market to refineries, etc. The current barrel price is nudging £120 (!!) whereas exploration and extraction costs have not increased dramatically over the past few years. Hence the big profits.

Oh, and the UK government takes 66p of every £1 we spent at the pump ... thiefing barstewards! :nono:

I am so disgusted that I have decided to grow my own.

After that I am going to smoke it and then wont really give a fook about the cost of petrol.
