thinking about the M 4mb package. Been alot of talk about increasing everyone on 4mb upto 10mb so i will get on the train now.

anyone got the 4mb? is it any good? it is cable so it is meant to be very reliable. is that right?

Also what is the wireless modem like? Will be connecting one laptop wirelessly and xbox via hardwire and occasionally connect via wifi from PSP. will it be able to handle all that at the same time?

Any other tips?

i am on 2mb looking to upgrade soon . look on there website they tell you they are upgrading the large and xl packages

i have there old modem which is pretty reliable. i have a seperate wireless router so cannot comment on the VM one.

i have been with then over 5 years now a cheap cost effective service imo.

We have the 20Mb package and it handles the following with ease:

PC

Laptop 1

Laptop 2

360XB

all on at the same time and all online;

BUT! If my boy is downloading a movie or audio file it does slow it down a lot.

Very good service and been with them for years.

You generally get a much higher speed on cable than with normal broadband.

Tends to be a bit more realistic so 4MB is probably better than "up to" 8MB that I've tried.

I'm on 20MB.

God help you if you ever change your package or have a billing query though they are absolutely useless at sorting things out.

They called me the other week to say I owed £250 in unpaid broadband but I pointed out i was on direct debit.

Idiots had me down for 2 accounts on the same line somehow and had never sent me the bill for it anyway LOL

Unfortunately my GF paid it over the phone! Took 8 calls and 5 weeks to get the money back.

A 4MB service would be fine for something like 10 PC's if they are just browsing but even a 100MB service would slow to a halt when downloading a movie as the download manager software will use all the bandwidth to itself unless you change the settings ;)
