aftermarket engine temp guage help...?

I have had my guage installed now for about 8 months and its caused no problems at all, however just recently it seems to take a lot longer for it to register a temperature...

 

It used to start moving at the exact point the standard one started to move, and they would both rise to normal operating temperature at the same time, now the aftermarket one seems to be behind the standard one...

 

What could be causing this?
