Looks good, and the R1 is an awesome bike. However anytime a bike has it's frame polished and fairing resprayed, alarms should be going off. This is often done to hide accident damage. Make sure you get it inspected at a dealer before handing over your cash.

Beautiful bike, but as a daily rider the maintence keeping that frame looking good would be too much for me!

Have a look at all the frame welds to see if any are not factory. give it a good ride, let go of handle bars to see if its going straight.

Another thing with a bent frame is that the rear will want to move to either the left or right under heavy braking so check that too.

But you can tell if its been down the road by looking at the steering stoppers on both sides see if one has a abnormally big mark on it where the handle bars have smacked the ground and made a mark on them.

I love the r1 i had the 2002 injection model.

i had a good look around the bike and it looks pretty clean. I might speak to the guys in work to see if its been in any accidents. Or at least any on the insurance database

When a bike has been resprayed its always most likely that its been in an accident.

a custom spray job no matter how nice or expensive it was always affects the sell price.

personally a bike thats been in an accident wouldnt put me off unless its not handling right or bent etc.

ive bought bikes with damage before and they rode great, even had onw with a welded frame ,was fine.

That R1 looks nice how much he want for it?

summers very close guys :D

considering i paid £2.4k for my 97 blade, which hold there money better, 2 years ago, id say it was WAAAAAAAY overpriced. Wouldnt pay over £2.5 for it!

There will be plenty about mate, you just gotta keep your eye out for the right one

You can pick up a 2001/2002 GSXR1000 for that price, and in my opinion a much better bike than the 98 R1.
