Thermosat fitting

I am in the process of doing a 60k service at the moment, I have just taken the old Thermosat out and it had some sort of gasket sealant around it.

I am using the guide on http://www.ttzd.com and it does not mention anything about using a sealant on the Thermosat.

Just wondering if I need to put sealant on it or not?

Dont need to put any on the thermosat, just on the water pipes.

Thanks, thats what I thought, just wanted to make sure before I continue over the weekend.

Its my first attempt so I am taking it slowly, its not easy getting to all the bolts.

The 2 allen key in the middle :headvswal

Had to come up with a make shift tool for them

NO! They only use liquid gasket to hold it in place while they put the pipe on after ;) And you lot are soft, the allen keys are the easiest bit

Should only be torqued to ~20Nm so no need for twistage of allen keys lol

Yep the two allen keys in the middle, mine were'nt long enough and then when I got a longer one off a neighbour I had to put a spanner on it to turn it.
