collected my car yesterday. while the engine is idling there's a sound exactly like AIV gurgle coming not from the nearside wing but from what sounds like the bottom of the centre of the engine. my AIVs were removed ages ago! she holds boost ok and drives fine, albeit i only run a few psi while im running her in. engine temp is a tad warmer than normal too. any ideas?

Sure it's not water gurgling around the matrix Dave?-especially if it's just been refilled?:)

she had the rad filled recently, as the front pipes has rusted away to nowt, thats all i can think of. will check the water level and have another look shortly.

edit - level was nearly to the top, i'll have to run her with the cap off to see any air out.

If she runs hotter than normal and gurgles this sounds like an air lock of some sort.

We have another similar thread to this and there it has been advised to jack the back of the car up to try and force the air to the rad.

Open up the cap and the bleed screw and top up as necessary.

i need to take these off mine, am i right in saying that theres 1 on each side of the car under the wheel arch cover???

Did you solve this fella

kind of solved itself really. the gurgling has gone  and the running temp has come down slightly, though it still acts a bit weird. im gonna post up a new thread about that. ive been needing to top up the water very slightly - say a quarter of a pint every 100 miles.

can you just drain these cos mines gettin worse sounding by the day, i really cant be bothered with all of that removal, i'm a lazy git, lol

hmmm, i'll have to ask duffers when i go down at the weekend, cheers Paul

If you have decat pipes (like I do that Duffers had to fit cus all the bolts snapped when he did my clutch (cheers Duffers)) it all won't be doing anything anyway. Mine is out of commission and still needs te be removed to tidy things up LOL

nah, still got cats on so it looks like its gonna be time to blow the dust off the drill, lol

cheers Paul
