Right i don't buy stuff off e-bay much and have seen a boat for sale that has a starting price of £700, i dont want to bid on it yet as nobody has put a bid in. I'm willing to pay prob £800 for the boat, and was thinking about putting my highest bid in about 15seconds b4 the sale close's(is this the right time to place the bid or not???) also as it doesn't say what the price is going up in ;IE £710 will that mean if noone else bids i'll have to pay £800 as that was my highest price i'd go to

hope that makes some sorta sense:rofl:

any help gratfully recieved:bow:

thanks Graeme

No it wont go to £800 unless someone bids up to say £790 at last minute meaning youl win by 10 quid

but last minute is always i way i do it hehe, but i always make a small bid to bigen with so they are aware of my presence.

So it it should only go up in £5 or £10 bids then

and what is the best time in seconds to place my last bid for it, will have two comps running so one will be ready to bid while one is watching the time lol

going anywhere nice? :D

It all depends on the bid price to which it goes up, for example if an item starts at 99p then it would go up in say 50p's but im not sure how much exactly but something along those lines.

depends how fast your connection is, if you can bid at the last second then good luck to you but u have to check if someone has outbid before placing your bid or youl be unlucky.

Can be quite fruastrating if you get outbid, its happened to me while watching a motorbike i wasnt happy haha

oh and you dont need 2 comps you nutter just two ebay windows running at the same time haha

Might be you wana come lol

;)

SCORE

i personally do as you suggested in your first post, wait till the last few seconds. the problem if you start to bid on it now, then you could end up pushing the final selling price up out of your range.

yep keep banging refresh.....

thats why u gota have a good connection coz if ya miss a beat its game over haha

Mmmm was thinking of putting in £705 about min b4 if still noone has bid then the £800 one in at about 15 seconds b4 it ended.(some one else might have my plan lol. We got a really slow connection here, i live in the back of beyond and then when you get there you got keep going to where i live, so the two comp thing will be easier lol

at the last 15secs just bid £800 dont do it before coz someone will prob bid 805 then youl be very upset haha and jumping up and down coz u know ud spend an extra 5 pounds if ya had to :D

so it will probably go up in £10 bids then. MMMM might go to £810

told you i dont buy off evil bay often. sorry for the dumb questions

James is giving good advice. The only thing I would add is be sure you bid the HIGHEST amount you are would be willing to pay, NOT what you hope it might sell for.

You will be very disappointed if you bid £810 and it sells at £820, then afterwards you think you would probably have been happy to have paid £900. Don't forget you will only pay £10 above the previous highest bid which, assuming it was £850, you will win the item for £860.

One last word of advice, don't bid in whole pounds but a little over, eg £901.35, then you will score over those (the majority) who bid in whole pounds.

Good luck with your bidding, let's know how you get on.

Ebay is simple

In the last 5 seconds bid the highest you are willing to pay + £1.56

If you win it great, if you dont there will be more.
