hi everyone, ive checked out the forums quite a few times but only just joined up. Ive been after a 300zx since the first time i saw one about 7 years ago (my mate had 2, which he sold on to another mate, so i used to be around them all the time and fell in love). however as i was only 19 at the time (25 now) the idea of getting and getting insured on a 3 litre TT was beyond me so i settled for a something a little smaller. Now im soon going to be in the position of investing in a 300zx and im pretty excited. I've read up quite a bit on them over time, as from my first visit here a few years ago i learnt that they are a bit of a guilty pleasure, and not the most practical or reliable or economical car about. All this aside im still interested.
having read about the turbos and the issues they have as these are older cars, ive decided to opt for an NA (insurance influenced this, the best ive got on a NA is 1600 fully comp) to avoid the turbo issues, and more importantly, because ive not had a rear wheel drive before, i don't really want to take too bigger risk (as the TT just seems to be an insane powerhouse) as im used to
im going to be looking to buy in about two months. Ive heard that very few people are disappointed by the NA which is encouraging. Im self employed but work from home so wont be using on a daily basis or in heavy traffic so the economy doesn't worry me at all, and i live right next to a train station so will probs use the train to get into the city.
i would ideally like to buy one with a body kit, wheels etc already installed. It's not that im not prepared to spend money on it in future, just that i would like to get as close to what i want to begin with. Ive been looking on the for sale forum and there are some great cars within budget that feature a lot of these, as well as the piece of mind that you guys love your cars, so im most likely to look on here in 2 months time.
anyway, can anyone share any advice, i would prefer manual cos i like to be involved but other than that what would you guys reccomend. Thanks for any replies, i imagine ill be spending a bit of time on here from now one :)
