Cheers dave, im gonna take the cas off tonight i found an online guide to see where i was going wrong. Ill see if that clicks the injectors and then goes from there :)

if ypu take the cas off your gunna have to get it timed up again just letting you know coz if ya put in on with too much advance you car could start detting and reverting to safety and youl be none the wiser :)

when you do put it back make sure its as bang in the middle as possible.

but get it timed up ::::D

I think the timing was out anyway, but it was hard to tell as car was idling high due to possible temp sensor problem.

It goes back the exact position as it was before, that's why "old zed" said to mark the CAS lug holes where the bolts pop through before removal of the CAS.

Timing can be played round with after she's running, if need be, which in this case is doubtfull considering the tinkering/repairing it had a few weeks ago.

Thats why I told him to mark it with a sharp point !! so that he can put it back exactly how it was.

??? are you saying it wont be running again because of the tinkering or have i misread?

Yep i marked it with a sharp point but once it back together ill get the timing check anyway :) if it works again :(

As long as you mark it and put it back in the same position, then you are back to where it was originally before it failed. As it went to Zedworld, no doubt that might have been checked, I do not know what your remit was to Jeff regarding sorting the car out, servicing etc., but as you say, it might pay to get it checked after you have got it running again.

Marcus, has the car been running since it was broken into, and just as important since you carried out some work to the wiring.

First of all the car would fire up but then when it went back to poss 2 it died again, so i changed round the wiring and got it started and drove it round the block then back up to my drive. I have also had her started and sat running on my drive for 20 mins whilst I fitted the window. On the weekend I started her again, moved her so my wife could get he car off the drive, turned her off whilst I chatted to my mate for an hour, then when he left sh would not start and hasnt since. From when she was running, to when she wasnt runninng nothing had been touched. The last thing that was touched was the CTS as i cleaned up the connection, but this was 2 starts prior to her not starting.

Right took the cas off and did the spin it test. lots of clicking from the top of the engine but still no sound from the fuel tank area.

I had this on Mine, parked it at the supermarket (no problems) came back and it wouldn't start.

I ended up running a new Earth wire to the fuel pump, that was 2 years ago and it's been working fine ever since.

Hope this helps

Griff

mine has the new wire to the fuel pump (earth) checked it and it seems fine

Can you hear fuel pump prime when you first turn ignition on ?

Without wanting to state the obvious! have you checked for a live feed at the pump? you say that the earth is OK, assuming that both are present then it would seem that the pump is faulty.

When I was testing mine I used one of the little 9v (smoke detector) batteries, which I connected directly to the terminals on the pump, it provided enough power to run the pump up and start the car. might be worth a try at least you'll have a difineative answer as to whether or not the pump runs.

Have you turned the car over with the fuel pipe disconnected ?

no. Where do i disconnect the fuel pipe? at the back by the fuel pump or by the fuel filter?

Will try that allthough as auto electrics isny my strong point (along with with Auto Mechanics, DIY & Housework LOL), i noticed alot of wires into the fuel pump and have no idea which is live. I know the earth as it added by prev owner and goes into the boot area.

hi mate disconnect it from the filter under the bonnet on the passenger side. then turn engine over to see if fuel is pumping through.

Will do that my job for tonight then

Make sure you put a large container at the end of the pipe - the fuel pump delivers quite a lot when its working LOL
