I have an annoying water leak on the passenger side which is now really boiling my p@@s. I have checked all the targa drain tubes and all are OK. There is no obvious sign of water leaking around the glass. There is no water loss from the engine via the heater matrix etc., and the heater works well. Could water be coming in via the air vent situated just in front of the windscreen. Where does the water get vented out from this area ? The car is now coming up together nicely but something I just cannot stand is wet carpets, I have had enough of that decades ago with older type cars when that sort of thing was quite common.

usually a matrix fault but Check the aircon unit drain in passenger footwell, it has a rubber drain tube that should go out through the bulkhead

Had this on a customers car last year. Be very carefull as he continued to drive it and ended up popping the injector driver circuit in the ECU due to a short :( Stripped the entire dash out and no trace to be found anywhere. Put it back together and it never leaked again, typical

Is that an obvious pipe Dave and which side of the ECU does it run.

Just to add, the water literally poured onto the passengers legs when going round a right hand bend lol

Thats cheered me up no end. I was getting all excited about an aircon drain and then oooooooops, mind the short. I can see that I am going to have to give some serious time to sorting this out before other more expensive problems occur.

The aicon box is the one immediatly above the ECU (the blower is to its left). The drain pipe is black and come from the back of the unit and down behind ecu and out through a hole in the bulkhead.

It certainly wasn't a job I enjoyed either lol. Check what Dave said first and also make sure the pipe isn't kinked. Look just above and behind the ECU :)

Does it only do it when its been raining or is it all the time?

Cheers,

Andy

Are you sure there's no Spam stuck in the drain pipe?

It seems to have appeared since using my local hand car wash which uses the deadly power washers. The staff are Polish and love the car and they all end up washing it rather enthusiastically. I do not know if this is a coincidence but these two events started together. It is garaged when not in use and seldom driven in the rain as it is a bit scary then, well more scary than usual.

That has to be the most annoying thing ever when you never really get to the heart of a problem but somehow it gets cured during your investigation.

Got it in one bud! I wanted to keep the car for longer to find what was causing it but he was desperate for it back :( Weird thing was that water ALWAYS leaves a trace but there was absolutley nothing. If you find this problem PLEASE let me know because its baffling the **** outta me

Does any of the tubing run behid the n/s kick panel as i have a black pipe there and my floor is wet:confused:

i have been trying to find the cause to my wet carpet aswell and have just found that the tube that is connected to the drain points for the targa roof the water just poors down it is a very tight space to get to from inside dont no from the outside am gonna try that way tommorow dont no why this tube is like this i also could not see any other tube that it looked like it was suppost to be connected to so i am baffled at the mo dont no if any one else has found this i only found this tube because i had someone tip water down the drain hole but you do have to take the passenger kick board of and to see if you have small hands you should be fine

I have a leak with water appearing in both front footwells. The water appears to be entering through a seam on the upper part of the bulkhead on both sides.
