which cars had the rear electronic suspension and can it be fitted to the rear of a jap series 1 tt or can you fit it without connecting the elecrical part etc

cheers chaps

U.S had front and rear electronic adjustable suspension between sport and touring mode with buttons to switch between the different modes.

U.K had rear electronic adjustable suspension - how or if it works is a different story with the only apparent connection for it being made with the handbrake mechanism.

Most UK owners just fit Jap struts or aftermarket when it comes to time for renewall.

You can fit UK rear struts without connecting the electrics although there isn't much point in that as they cost more than twice as much as the Jap versions.

cheers for that , the reason im asking is the stock setup going on my car includes electronic rears so was wondering if you can use the it without the electronic part or can the electronic bit be fitted to a jap ,ie is there a harness in place etc

Im sure you could find all the nesscesary bits to do it, but i think youl needs the centre panel where the button sits if im correct i think it was near the electric mirror button or was it near the parking pole button thing TBH i dont really know but hurry it up and get those teins sent off to me asap haha... just kidding..... :D

on the U.S spec yes, but on the UK spec there is'nt a button for the Electronic suspension its connected to the handbrake, and you pull it up "1 click" to activate sport mode.

doing a search i think only the us rears had a button and uk ones used the first click of the handbrake , but there doesnt seem to be lot of write ups

somebody will know for sure

i thought the handbrake connection was for diagnostics and the suspention was altered by the ecu depending on speed etc

otherwise it is fairly pointles: hey lets put it in sport mode and burn up our brakes!

In theory yes, however I dont believe there is any connection for it to the ECU.

so do you pull the handbrake up 1 click and leave it or do you pull it up for so long and let it down?

Leave it up one click, so that the light is on but no brake force is applied UK models only.

To activate turnaround (all models)mode simply get to a steady speed and pull said hand brake all the way up!!

Thanks B19rks,

been out trying it and it really does stiffen up the car! what suprised me most is that it bloody works still after all them year lol

does it just stiffen the suspension or lower it abit too?

then get ready for your ass end to be passing you in the 180 spin :D

IF you do fit them, leave the actuators off but make sure both shocks are set to the same stiffness ;) Sounds obvious but just making sure lol :D
