HID Bulb conversion

After a quick drive on country roads the other night the failings of 'our' lights was more than obvious!

With the longer nights approaching, I began thinking about what to do, well, I've spoken to a company in the states about a possible Group Buy on HID conversion kits.

I am initially only looking at the dip beam lights, as I don't think the mains are too bad as they are, (mains are available if required).

The kit offers the 9006 Bulb, along with the required Ballast and fitting kit. Offering a huge improvement over the standard lights, bringing things up to a 'modern' standard.

In order for this group buy to go ahead I need 10 definate orders, the cost (subject to final verification) will be £300 + Shipping. I am on holiday soon so I intend placing the order in the first week of September.

Well maybe, but I'm still pretty much of the opinion that the fundamental problem is down to the reflectors, not the brightness of the bulb. I'd really want to see a back to back comparision first, as it's a pile of cash.

I was thinking more along the lines of importing the pukka Nissan HID setup from a late spec model in Japan.

My garage is gonna do the conversion for me - won't cost newhere near £300 !! Just move indicators to the side, US style, then put extra headlamp bulbs in their place.

I rang Regal Auto Bulbs ages ago and they did a kit for around the 400 squids mark. They also told me that they were getting a new kit in which would do both on our cars I think for around the same price.

I agree with Andy about the reflector. It's that nastey glass mini goldfish bowl type thing that is the cause. It gets all dirty and cloudy and the earth leads are also a major player.

If you have a look at a good pic of a 300 when they were brand new that reflector was crystal clear. Can they not be replaced individually?
